J.D. Salinger, author of "The Catcher in the Rye " and bane of high school students everywhere, has died, according to his literary agent. The author died Wednesday at age 91 of natural causes at his home in New Hampshire.
Zelda Rubinstein, the actress best known for her role as the tiny psychic in the 1982 film Poltergeist, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 76. The 4ft 3in actress died in the hospital after recently suffering a heart attack, her agent told the Los Angeles Times.
Pernell Roberts, the actor who played the oldest son Adam Cartwright on Bonanza has died.
He also starred in a M*A*S*H spin-off Trapper John M.D.
Ol' Pernie was 81.
Close... but no cigar... (the original) Jean Simmons passed away at her home in Santa Monica, CA, after a long battle with lung canncer. She was 80.
Gaines Adams, defensive end for the Chicago Bears, died suddenly due to cardiac arrest. He was 26.
Glen Bell... regrettably not Glen Beck... has passed away at the age of 86.
Teddy Pendergrass, the R&B singer, has died at the age of 59. Pendergrass underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago, and reportedly had a difficult recovery.
Pendergrass first rose to fame in the 1970s as the lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, a group that produced such hits as “If You Don’t Know Me by Now.”

Art Clokey, a pioneer in the field of stop-action-animation, and creator of the characters Gumby and Pokey, has died at the age of 88 following a bladder infection. He was also responsible for the characters Davey and Goliath.
