Hollywood screen legend Tony Curtis passed away in his Las Vegas home this evening of cardiac arrest. He was 85.

Another famous father passes as Tony is the father of Jamie Lee (Halloween) Curtis.

Surprisingly... no Slabbers had him on their list.

Comedian, and judge on Last Comic Standing, Greg Giraldo has died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 44.

He was hospitalized in New Brunswick, NJ after he overdosed on prescription pills, the overdose was not a suicide attempt.

NBC newscaster Edwin Newman, has died at the age of 91.

At NBC from 1952 until his retirement in 1984, Newman did political reporting, foreign reporting, anchoring of news specials, "Meet the Press," "Today," "The Nightly News," midday news and a variety of radio spots. He announced the death of President Kennedy on radio and analyzed the Vietnam War.

(TECHNICALLY... he died on August 13th... but his family didn't report it to the world till today. Rather than go back and readjust August's tally, and as no one had him, he's getting thrown onto the slab here in September.)

Harold Gould, the actor who played Rhoda’s father Martin Morgenstern on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda, has died of prostate cancer. He was 86.

Gould was well-known for his work in other sitcoms, like The Golden Girls, in which he played a widower who romanced Betty White’s Rose. The actor was also active on film, appearing in such movies as 1973′s The Sting, 1975′s Love and Death, and 1976′s Silent Movie. Among some of his other television credits: The Donna Reed Show, St. Elsewhere, Dallas, Perry Mason, The King of Queens, L.A. Law, Hawaii Five-0, Soap, The Love Boat, Mister Ed, That Girl, and Hogan’s Heroes.
